Bank statement requirements: what you need to include

Have more questions? Submit a request

Verifying your bank details is a standard security measure designed to protect your funds and ensure we’re compliant with anti-money laundering policies.

Here’s why you’d submit a bank statement:

  • Confirm account ownership – ensures that withdrawals are processed to the correct account.
  • Prevent fraud – protects against unauthorised transactions.
  • Regulatory compliance – helps us comply with anti-money laundering (AML) policies.

To ensure a smooth process, make sure your document meets the required criteria:

  • Show your full name
  • Include your account number and sort code
  • Display the bank’s logo

If your bank statement hasn’t been accepted, it’s usually due to:

  • Missing details – your document should include everything listed above. In the event that your bank statement is provided as proof for a debit/credit card used for past payments into your trading account, it should include at least one such transaction from your bank account to your Capital.com account, or the last four digits of the card used.
  • Incorrect format – the preferred format is a PDF of a bank statement, either from your bank’s app or sent to you via email. Photos and screenshots may be accepted, provided all of the required information is included, and that the document in the photo is complete (not cropped or covered), clear, and legible.
  • Name mismatch – the name on your statement must match the name on your trading account – remember, you can’t fund your account with a third-party payment source (ie someone else’s payment info) irrespective of your relationship with that third party.
